ReplyDeleteGreat challenge! I believe this is one of the Rockspur Athletic Series by Gilbert Patten. I will not be surprised if this is wrong, but it was fun trying to figure it out.
ReplyDeleteOn second thought, this might be "Deering of Deal" by Latta Griswold; number 1 of the Deering Deal series published by Macmillan.

It helped when I viewed the image at full size, noted the "G H" on the fence post, and decided it must stand for George Harper who illustrated "Deering of Deal".
