The intent of this blog is to highlight areas of the book collecting world that are of interest to me. Henry Altemus Books, the authors- Wayne Whipple, George Peck (and his "Bad Boy"), Hezekiah Butterworth, Jacob Abbott- juvenile series books of the 19th and 20th centuries and book/publisher ephemera. I hope there is something for all collectors here.

The Andover Series- Claude Fuess
The short juvenile series of Lothrop Lee and Shepard can be hard to complete-especially in dust jacket. Here is the Andover Series written by Claude Fuess. It was published between 1925-1926.
The books have numerous glossy illustrations done by John Goss.
Claude Fuess (1885-1963) was a teacher and administrator of Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts from 1908 until the 1930's. He wrote numerous books related to Amherst College. He also penned a number of biographies.
These two books are sports related. All for Andover is a baseball book. The Andover Way has a distance running theme. Running is an extremely rare topic for series books.
The Andover Series:
1. All for Andover 1925
2. The Andover Way 1926
