Kipling Advertising Flyer-Doubleday, Page and Company
Here is a nice advertising flyer from the Doubleday, Page and Company publishing House. It advertises the Kipling set that they published. Although most of the books had the sailboat cover, there were some that came in a variety of other formats including limp leather and flexible red leather.
The flyer is 7 x 5.25
This publisher's advertising piece dates from the mid 1920's. In 1927 Doubleday, Page and Company merged with Doran to become Doubleday, Doran. So this piece has to predate the merger. A copy of Just So Stories with this format has been seen from 1921. Thus the guesstimate of the age of the flyer.
Here is the cover of a book the format of which is
seen in this flyer.
