Thomas Whittaker Publishing House

A few days ago while discussing Edward A. Rand I noted that several of his series has been published by Thomas Whittaker. I remembered I had a trade card of this firm and thought it would be perfect for today.

The firm was started in 1874 in New York and continued publishing books into the 1900's.Throughout its history the address was always at No. 1-3 Bible House. The subject material of its books was religious and moralistic.

At this time I have no information about Thomas Whittaker except that Griswold College in Davenport, Iowa awarded him an honorary M.A. degree in 1889. I will keep searching for information about Whittaker.

  1. who doesn't love a book-related trade card? have you seen those wonderful colorful ones issued for the "Zig-Zag" series of boys' travel books? I think I even have one or two of them in my personal trade-card collection...
